Woman charged in apartment shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police have made an arrest in a early-morning shooting at an apartment complex.
Wilmington Police say the shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Pines of Wilmington near Shipyard Boulevard. That’s where police say they found the Anthony James Cromartie, Jr., 26, inside his apartment with a gunshot wound in each leg.
Thursday night, police say they picked up Cerrica Jackson, 18, on outstanding warrants. Upon further investigation, police say she implicated herself in Wednesday’s incident. She’s now facing charges of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Officers say they believe the shooting was drug-related. They’ve also charged Cromartie with possession with the intent to sell and distribute Schedule II, possession of Schedule VI, maintaining a dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.
