Woman dies after falling 150 feet at NC state park
KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a woman was killed when she fell 150 feet from a peak at Crowders Mountain State Park in Gaston County west of Charlotte.
Local media outlets report the woman, whose identity was not immediately released, fell from Kings Pinnacle, one of two peaks at the park, shortly before 1:30 on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities say the woman was with her family and taking pictures at the peak when she fell.
Gastonia Fire Department spokesman Chris Stowe says the woman suffered head injuries and died before rescue workers were able to get her off of the mountain.
