Woman flips car, cited for DWI

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department responded to a single-car crash earlier tonight just inside the city limits close to Motts Creek.

According to police, 48-year-old Susan Renee Grant was traveling north on River Road and ran off the roadway, over-corrected and crossed the road causing the vehicle to roll over.

Grant was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car on the passenger side. She was immediately transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

A further investigation revealed that she was impaired from legally prescribed narcotic pills and illegal drugs.

Grant was cited for a DWI, failure to maintain lane and not wearing her seat belt. She is due in court on February 20th.
