Woman pleads not guilty in Topsail stabbing deaths
NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A woman accused of murder in the double stabbing deaths on North Topsail Beach last year has pleaded not guilty.
Bekka Shellhammer, 20, of N.C. 172 in Sneads Ferry, made the plea in Superior Court Tuesday afternoon through her court appointed attorney, Walter H. Paramore III.
Shellhammer was charged with murder by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 24, 2013, according to warrants. The charge stems from the stabbing death of 31-year-old Christopher William Stewart, who died July 25, 2013 on NTB of blood loss from an incised wound to the neck, according to his death certificate.
Her husband, 31-year-old Robert Clinton Shellhammer IV, was also found dead that same day on NTB from blood loss from a stab wound to the neck. Both men were Sneads Ferry residents.
