Woman wanted for reportedly making false report in hit-and-run

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –Wilmington Police are searching for Tsheena Devone Allen, 34, for filing a false police report after her car was involved in a hit and run earlier this week.

Officers responded to the intersection of Wrightsville Avenue and Windsor Drive around 6 a.m. Sunday to a report that a fire hydrant was damaged and spewing water. According to a news release, officers found an engine coolant at the crash site and followed the fluid for approximately two miles to Mill Creek Apartments, where they observed a 2012 red Nissan Altima with heavy damage to the front and a deployed air bag.

Shortly before the officer was dispatched to investigate the hit and run, Allen, the owner of the suspect vehicle, reported it stolen from her house less than half a mile away from where the car was found.

Allen told police she noticed the car was missing around 1 a.m., but waited until 5:30 a.m. to report it was stolen.

The investigation determined Allen filed a false police report, and she is being charged with such.

She is also charged with hindering/delaying an investigation.

The investigation is on-going into who was operating the car during the hit and run.

Anyone with information on Allen’s whereabouts or on the hit and run should contact WPD at (910) 343-3609 or use Text A Tip.
