Woman who kidnapped her biological twins wants visitation rights

RALEIGH (AP) — A judge in Raleigh is considering if a woman can visit with her biological twins, whom she kidnapped from their adoptive parents and took to Canada.

Allison Quets attended the more than three-hour hearing yesterday that District Court Judge Anne Salisbury closed to the public and reporters. Salisbury didn’t say when she would rule.

The twins’ parents, Denise and Kevin Needham of Apex, are challenging Quets’ request. They also want Quets to pay their legal bill, which total $200,000 so far. The hearing was closed at the Needham’s request.

The 50-year-old Quets picked up the toddlers for a scheduled visit in December 2006, and didn’t return them. She pleaded guilty to international parental kidnapping in September and was sentenced to five years’ probation.
