Women of Hope hosts an evening of dance, music and charity

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was an evening of music, dancing and charity at the Diamonds and Champagne Hope Ball Charity Gala.

People gathered at the Coastline Conference and Event Center to celebrate cancer survivors, honor those who have been lost to cancer and raise money to continue to support those with the diagnosis.

The event helped raise money for the Women of Hope non-profit organization. The organization supports women with cancer.

Elizabeth Barnes, executive director of the Women of Hope, said no woman should have to go through cancer alone.

“For the woman who doesn’t have a family or the friends to be that, that’s where Women of Hope steps in we become her support system,” said Barnes

Sherri Britt is a cancer survivor and a volunteer for the organization, She said they offer a number of resources to women in the community.

“Women of Hope have played a big part in assisting others in our community, offering medical assistance and offering education programs,” said Britt.

WWAY’s very own Taylor Yakowenko participated in the dance showcase to help raise money.

Overall $6,000 was raised for Women of Hope.
