Women in media discuss evolving industry

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There once was a time when women played little to no part in the media. The rules have changed drastically since those days, and now women play key roles in radio and TV.

Today WWAY’s Ann McAdams took part in the Strong Women in Media panel, along with other women from area media outlets. They discussed the role women play in the media and how powerful women can be in today’s world.

“I think that Wilmington and the industry not just here, but for women, has become far more accessible, and I feel like that has definitely changed in my lifetime,” said 980 WAAV producer Chris Watkins.

The panelists also took questions from the audience and shared personal stories about how they got to where they are and why they love the work they do.
