Work begins on Columbus County Animal Shelter
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Animal Shelter is on it’s way to a new and improved air conditioning system.
Pidgen Brothers began working on the new system this morning. The old system was unable to keep up with temperatures within the required range set by the state. Work is expected to be finished by next Wednesday. The project was delayed due to flooding.
Bids for the process began this summer after County Commissioners voted on a new system. Temporary measures were put in place over the summer to ensure animal safety during warmer temperatures.
The shelter will be intermittently closed during the project to allow for installation and upgrades to the electrical infrastructure. Normal operating hours are expected to resume Thursday, Dec. 1.
