WPD addresses more than 30 distracted driving violations in a week
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — Last week the Wilmington Police Department Traffic Unit was focused on a weeklong initiative to combat distracted driving in Wilmington.
Traffic unit officers were keeping an eye out for drivers distracted through the use of smartphones, eating or who were otherwise preoccupied.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, during any given daylight moment, nearly 660,000 drivers across the country are using cellphones or manipulating electronic devices while driving.
