WPD cruiser involved in crash

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington Police cruiser was hit while following a vehicle last night.

According to Wilmington Police spokeswoman, Linda Rawley, the cruiser was in pursuit of a vehicle in the 4100 block of S. 17th St. around 7:20 last night when it was struck by a Chevy Cruze. The passenger side front panel was damaged in the crash. The driver of the Cruze was not injured, but the officer was taken to Cape Fear Hospital to treat minor injuries and released.

No charges have been filed at this time.
