WPD Demo Day gives kids an inside look at police equipment

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police were out in full force for Demo Day 2015 at WPD’s downtown headquarters Thursday morning.

The rain didn’t damper the kids’ spirits because they were busy checking out the SABLE helicopter, bikes, patrol cars, horses and even a K-9.

The little ones got to take a peek inside the chopper and hop on the motorcycles set up behind the station, all while learning about how officers use the tools on hand to keep the community safe.

Police sounded sirens and showed off the K-9’s best tricks, which was one of the biggest hits for the kids.
