WPD: Driver blacks out, causes head-on collision near The Pointe at Barclay

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A head-on collision in Wilmington had traffic backed up for at least an hour near The Pointe at Barclay.

A spokeswoman with the Wilmington Police Department said the accident happened just after 2 p.m. at the intersection of 17th Street and Independence Boulevard.

WPD says four cars were involved and there were no serious injuries.

A woman driving a burgundy Chevy reportedly blacked out behind the wheel. She ran a red and went into the other lane colliding with the other cars.

Two cars were totaled and there will be no charges.
