WPD investigates after gunshot victim drives himself to hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking for answers a man drove himself to the hospital last night after getting shot.

According to a news release, officers responded to New Hanover Regional Medical Center just before 6 p.m. Tuesday about the gunshot wound victim. Police say the 49-year-old Wilmington man, whose name the department did not release, underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Investigators say the shooting happened in the 400 block of Evans Street.

Police say believe it is an isolated incident.
