WPD investigating 3 ShotSpotter alerts in 1 day


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking into three reported shootings on Wednesday.

The first two were in the same area, the 1500-block of S. 11th Street. In the first instance at 11:41 a.m., witnesses told police a man got out of his car, walked by another man, turned around and shot at the man. Both the shooter and victim ran off, police said.

In the second incident just before 4:30 p.m. on S. 11th Street, police said a man sitting on his porch was shot at but not injured. Police recovered shell casings on scene.

The third ShotSpotter was reported just before 9:30 p.m. in the 1100-block of S. 7th Street. Shell casings were also recovered.
