WPD investigating after man shot in leg

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department are trying to identify the men accused in a shooting.

Police said the incident happened around 8 p.m. last night at the intersection of 5th Ave. and Brunswick St. They said a man walking on Brunswick Street was approached by three men, one of whom had a gun. The victim told police when the suspect pointed the gun at him, he tried to knock it away and was shot in the leg.

The victim drove himself to the hospital, police said. There was no descriptions given for any of the suspects, but the victim believed they were between 17 and 22 years old.
