WPD looking for person who shot teen in leg

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say they are looking for a white SUV they think is connected to a shooting yesterday.

Investigators say a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after someone shot him in the leg at 12th and Grace Streets around 4 p.m. Investigators found six shell casings at the scene.

Police say they responded after a ShotSpotter report and a call about someone being shot. Witnesses told officers the boy was standing on the corner when a SUV, maybe a white Ford Expedition, pulled up. Witnesses said a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks, opened fire while standing up in the sunroof.

Police say the the victim is not cooperating with them.
