WPD: Man facing firearm and drug charges following traffic stop

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing several charges following a traffic stop over the weekend.

Wilmington Police said just after 6:20 p.m. on Sunday night, WPD units conducted a traffic stop in the 3300 block of Princess Place Drive.

Harvey Snyder, 33, of Wilmington attempted to run away, but was caught after a brief chase.

Police said Snyder was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials.

WPD said officers searched the area and also found a stolen firearm near Snyder’s bicycle. 

He has been charged with Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Larceny of Firearm, Carrying Concealed Weapon-Gun, Manufacture Marijuana, PWIMSD Marijuana, Maintain Vehicle Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession Schedule III Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fail to Heed Lights/Siren, and Resist/Delay/Obstruct.

Snyder is currently being held under an $81,200 secured bond at the New Hanover County Detention Facility.
