WPD: Neighbors catch man trying to kick in door of home

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police arrested a man they say was caught by a neighbor trying to break into a Wilmington home Friday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say they got a call from a witness who lives in the 100 block of Borden Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday. Officers say the caller told them they spotted someone trying to kick in the door to a home in the area.

Police say based on the caller’s description, they were able to find the man, Matthew McClure Walthall, 30, for the crime. They say Walthall was arrested and charged with attempted felony breaking & entering. Walthall is in the New Hanover County Jail under $10,000 secured bond.
