WPD offering police academy for citizens

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Want to learn more about the Wilmington Police Department? Classes will start soon at WPD for citizens who qualify.

According to a release, applicants have until July 27 to apply for classes that start on August 1. Classes are held four Monday evenings and one Tuesday for five weeks at the main headquarters on Bess Street.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older
• Wilmington resident
• Must complete personal history form
• Must pass a criminal history check
