WPD: Police catch duo breaking into home, stealing jewelry

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police arrested a duo they say were caught with stolen jewelry after breaking into a Wilmington home Sunday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say it happened at a home in the 1100 block of Princeton Drive just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday. That’s where officers say neighbors called to report seeing two unknown males walking around the house while the residents were not there.

Officers first went to the back of the home, where they say witnesses reported last seeing the men. Police say an officer spotted one of suspects, Tycorous Waddell, 22, running out the back door.

Police stopped Waddell, and as they were taking him into custody, officers say they noticed the second suspect, Jeremy Bannerman, 20, run out the front door of the home. They say several officers began chasing Bannerman, who was caught trying to jump a neighbor’s fence nearby.

Police say the home’s rear, sliding-glass door was shattered and officers found costume jewelry on Waddell, which was later identified as the resident’s. Both Waddell and Bannerman face breaking & entering and larceny charges. They were each booked in the New Hanover County Jail under $75,000 bond.
