WPD: Police catch man hiding inside insurance office with heroin

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police arrested a man they say was caught hiding behind a desk inside an insurance office after an alarm alerted officers of a break-in at the business early this morning.

Wilmington Police say they got the call just after 4 a.m. Thursday when an alarm started sounding at City Insurance of Wilmington on Franklin Avenue.

That’s where officers say they found a front door unlocked, before spotting Quashaunn Omar Shuford, 20, hiding behind a desk inside. Police say Shuford had several bindles of heroin in his possession when they arrested him for breaking and entering.

Shuford, who police say is from Riegelwood, faces both breaking and entering and drug charges. He is in the New Hanover County Jail under $1,000 bond.
