WPD: Police investigating after shots fired from car into the air

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say someone fired shots into the air from inside a car on a Wilmington street Friday afternoon.

Wilmington Police say it happened just after 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of Norman Street. Officers say they got a call for shots fired near 15th and Anne streets, where they found several shell casings in the roadway.

Police say witnesses spotted a white Lincoln Town Car drive from 14th Street onto Anne Street at a high rate of speed. That’s when they say someone stuck their hand out of the car and fired a shot into the air. Police say the car then turned onto 15th Street and left the area.

WPD is investigating, but say no one was hurt.
