WPD responds to NHRMC about gunshot victim
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating after a 41-year-old man showed up to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
WPD spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay says police responded to a call at 4:13 p.m. Thursday. The victim said he could not remember much, but he thinks he was riding his bike in the 1000 block of Meares Street when he heard two shots. He was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. He was hit in the thigh, but the injuries are not life threatening.
C.S.I. and detectives are investigating, but there was no shot spotter alert in that area.
No word on the victim or suspects name, but charges will include assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
