WPD: Teen crashed into car, fence, and tree at Independence Mall

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A teen is wanted on multiple charges after he allegedly drove into a car and hit a fence and tree at a Wilmington mall.

18-year-old Nathan William Benedict is wanted for hit-and-run, property damage, reckless driving and no operators license.

Around 10:20 a.m. on June 23, Benedict reportedly crashed into a car, a chain link fence and then drove into a tree at Independence Mall. Police say he then ran away.

Police estimate the damage to be more than of $7,000.

No one was injured during the crash, police say.
