WPD: Validated gang member charged in brother’s shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested a man they say is a validated gang member for the shooting of his 19-year-old brother.

Members of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force from the Wilmington Police Department arrested Parish McNeil, 28, in Wilmington on Wednesday.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Campbell Street around 11 p.m. Monday in reference to a shots fired call.

When they arrived, officers located a man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. No word on his condition.

WWAY spoke with Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous on Wednesday. He said the recent gun related crimes have been a result of a spike in gang activity.
