WPD: Witnesses spot SUV in area after several shots fired

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say several shots were fired near downtown Wilmington late Tuesday night, but say no evidence was found at the scene.

Wilmington Police say just before 11:30 p.m., ShotSpotter picked up gunfire in the area of 7th and Nun streets. That’s where officers say they got multiple calls from witnesses who reported seeing a blue or grey SUV in the area around the time 7 or 8 rounds were heard.

Officers who responded say they checked out several drivers with vehicles matching the description, but never found any suspects or information.
