WPD: Woman charged after hitting boyfriend with metal baseball bat
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Officials are investigating after an early morning fight led to a car crash into a Wilmington home.
According to a Wilmington Police spokeswoman, officers responded to reports of a fight at Tara Court around 3 a.m. Thursday. Police were told there was a woman chasing a man with a baseball bat. When officers arrived, the suspects were gone.
Police said officers then got another call about a car that crashed into a house on S. 41st Street.
Officers arrived and determined the woman driving the car was the same one who was chasing the man with the bat. The man in the car with her was the man being chased.
Police said Deja Monique Dyson, 23, confronted her boyfriend, Vann McDonald, and hit him multiple times in the face with a metal baseball bat. Dyson was arrested and McDonald was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
According to jail records, Dyson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting serious injury.
