Case#: 2010-012771
Time: 5:51 p.m. – Monday
Location: 4711 New Center Drive
Offense: Hit and Run / DWI
Summary: WPD officers responded to a report of a van that had crashed into a guard rail behind Target. Witnesses reported seeing the injured driver leave the wrecked van and walk into the woods.
Several people were trying to find the man when officers arrived. A WPD K-9 tracked the man into the woods, working through vegetation so thick that the K-9 handler sometimes had to crawl to get through. The man was found lying in the woods, unconscious and bleeding.
Officers were able to wake him and bring him out to a waiting EMS unit. Antonio Garcia Garcia, d.o.b. 1-16-1963, was transported to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. He later was issued a citation for DWI, hit and run, no operator’s license and failure to maintain lane.
