Warm season means big business in Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Tourist season is about to get into full swing with the busiest time of the year for businesses near the beach.

With the sun pounding down on the sand and streets of Wrightsville beach, traffic is heavy, but so is businesses.

“Earlier in the year, when we didn’t have really good weather, nobody was coming down to the beach. It was like a ghost town. But this really kicks it off and the weather will stay good now so we’re looking for a really good season this year,” David Monaghan, Causeway Cafe owner, said.

The warm weather set in and with Easter and spring break falling in line together, there is a constant wave of people coming in to Wrightsville beach.

“That’s why starting two weeks ago, life has really come back to all the beaches,” Monaghan said.

Causeway cafe isn’t alone. Restaurants like Mellow Mushroom are also seeing their business grow.

“You prepare as much as you can for this week, spring break. That’s kind of when it all starts to happen and if it comes at us with Easter and the weather, you kind of have the trifecta of what you’re looking for around here,” Robert Ray, Mellow Mushroom co-owner, said.

All they hope for now is continued success

“People tend to get the blues in the winter time, so we’re really happy to see it get here and for it to come for Easter weekend like this,” Ray said.

Local businesses are already seeing a great turnout. Maybe this is indicative of a very successful spring and summer.
