Wrightsville Beach Elementary School expands in building space

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — This is the first time Wrightsville Beach Elementary School faculty and staff will be working together under on roof since 2012.

In response to overcrowding, more than 17,000 SF have been added.

There are new classrooms, offices, a workroom, and much more. The school improvements are the last of the 2014 school bond.

“So our project was under renovation and new construction over a year, so we’ve been relocated to Market Street,” Principal Jackson Norvell said.

Norvell said the architect for the project is an alumni of the school who wanted to maintain some of the characteristics of the original building and blend it with new features.

“It’s been a long process between doing the bond, and the planning, and we were very involved in it teacher wise,” Teacher Lynn McGary said.
