Wrightsville Beach hires new police chief
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The search is over for a new chief of police Wrightsville Beach.
On Tuesday afternoon, the town announced David Squires will join the force as police chief next month.
According to a news release, Squires is retiring from the Virginia Beach Police Department where he served for 27 years.
He had been a captain in the department since 2012.
“I could not be more excited to join the Wrightsville Beach Police Department as your Chief of Police,” Squires stated. “I the process was rigorous and I am very proud to have been selected amongst several highly qualified candidates.”
Squires’ first day on the job is August 17.
Currently, former Wilmington Police Chief Ralph Evangelous is serving as interim chief.
