Wrightsville Beach triathlon brought families together
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington YMCA Sprint Triathlon was held in Wrightsville Beach Saturday.
The event included a 1500-meter swim, a 12-mile bike, and 5k run. It was open for ages 10 and above and was even a family affair for some participants.
The weather Saturday morning was great for all the events to run smoothly. Competitor Emma Johnson said this wasn’t her first triathlon and wouldn’t be her last.
Johnson said, “Well actually, I met a nice guy when I was running, Steve, who is 69 years old. When I was finishing the race with Steve, he passes me at the finish line, and here I am 20 years old.” >
Just goes to show you age is only a number. Johnson completed the triathlon with her mother.
All participants had complete the race in under 2 hours and 30 minutes.
The person with the fastest time was a man from Wrightsville Beach who completed in just over an hour.
