Wrightsville Beach drawbridge may take longer than expected

Repairs on the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge may require some extra time.

An engineer for the DOT told WWAY NewsChannel 3 Wednesday that they are running into problems.

Without getting too technical, the problems are with the timber fender pilings that protect the bridge from ship impact. The engineer said this could get worked out Wednesday night and finish on schedule, but if it doesn’t, the DOT will let everyone know in advance about future bridge closings so they can finish the job.
