Wrightsville Grille closes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Wrightsville Grille opened in 2005. Owner Colin Smith says the bank called in the loan it had given the restaurant, but he could not pay back all the money. He tried to find loans from other banks and private investors, but couldn’t, and the restaurant was forced to closed.

“They’d been working with us for a long time through the recession,” Smith said. “So it was kind of like a blindside. But you know the way banks have been treating a lot of businesses it was kind of expected at some point in time, but we weren’t expecting it now.”

Smith says he loved owning the restaurant and plans to open another one someday. He thanked the staff and customers for their support throughout the years.
