WWAY helps collect Packages from Home
Being away from home for Christmas is tough enough. But try being in a war zone for the holidays. That's why WWAY and the Big Talker FM are partnering with Step up for Soldiers to send our troops Packages from Home.
This morning, Big Talker host Curtis Wright broadcasted his Morning Beat show from Montage Art & Design/Accent on Framing in Leland. It's one of several drop off locations for Packages from Home where you can donate items including:
- Single-serving flavoring packs that can be added to water bottles: (Kool-Aid, Crystal Light, Lemonade, etc.)
- Baby Wipes
- Travel-sized toiletries
- Candy and Gum
- Batteries
- Phone Cards (any kind)
- Snacks & Food (Easy Mac, Ramen Noodles, Beef Jerky, Little Debbie, etc.)
- Magazines (Sports, Entertainment, Cars, Financial, etc.)
- CDs and DVDs
- Board Games
- Cards & Letters
- Cards & Letters from children
- Donations Accepted for Packaging Costs
"Some of it is special is so many ways, 'cause it's products that they need and letters from the children," Tom Russell of Step up for Soldiers, said. "It shows that we are united, and we are one family."
The collection will continue through the holidays. You can also drop off items at our studios at 615 North Front Street during normal business hours.
