WWAY’s Hurricane Matthew coverage continues Saturday night, Sunday morning
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s been a long day across southeastern North Carolina, as Hurricane Matthew has socked the region with rain and wind.
We have been covering the storm since early this morning. While it’s certainly the biggest story of the day, we know continuous coverage can be fatiguing, so we’ve tried to let our viewers take a break with college football this evening. As long as conditions permit, that will continue to be our plan, but we will interrupt the games if needed, including for any tornado warnings in our viewing area.

We will continue with on-air updates between quarters and at haltime of the games. We will also have a longer update between Notre Dame-NC State and Virginia Tech-UNC (3:30 p.m. kickoff).
At 7 p.m., we will have a special edition of WWAY NEWS with all the latest on Hurricane Matthew. Then we will wrap up the night with another update after the Florida State-Miami game.
Sunday, we will check out the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, especially the flooding, with a special Sunday edition of Good Morning Carolina starting at 7 a.m.
