WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A member of the WWAY on-air staff spoke to a class of aspiring journalists at UNCW.

Sydney Bouchelle was a guest speaker in Jeff Rivenbark’s multimedia journalism class on Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to working as an evening anchor at WWAY, Rivenbark is an instructor at UNCW. He invited Bouchelle to speak to his class on Tuesday about the work she does and how she got to where she is today.

As an alumna of the Communication Studies Department at UNCW, Bouchelle spent a lot of time in the department’s television production studio. She took every journalism and studio production class available in the department, as well as several field video production courses. Additionally, Bouchelle worked as a reporter and anchor for Seahawk Central News, the flagship show for UNCW TealTV.

“My time at UNCW laid the groundwork for where I am today. I am forever grateful for the knowledge my professors and mentors poured into me, as well as the hands-on experiences that prepared me to step into my role as a multimedia journalist,” said Bouchelle.
