DUBLIN, NC (RELEASE) — West Bladen would like to formally announce that the second annual Woodmen of the World Christmas Tournament will be held at West Bladen High School on December 27, 28 and 30. The boy’s tournament will consist of Scotland, Fairmont, Whiteville, North Brunswick, South Brunswick, Southern Lee, South Columbus, and host West Bladen.
West Bladen boys basketball Coach Travis Pait has this to say about the event. “We are again happy to be hosting this event. We have expanded to a three day tournament and believe this will be an unbelievable three days. The seven teams that will be joining us are all well coached and will certainly be contenders in their respective leagues. The level of competition will certainly help prepare all of the participants for conference play. We would like to thank Mr. Joe Walters and Woodmen of the World for their participation as title sponsors of this event. Woodmen is such a great organization who are always trying to give back to the community.”
Woodmen of the World state manager Joe Walters had this to say: “Woodmen of the World is very excited to be involved with an event like this that benefits so many young people. All of the communities involved have a high rate of Woodmen members, which makes this a great venue for us to continue to actively strengthen our communities. We have for a long time seen the value of team sports on our young people. Many lessons are taught and learned during this time in our youth’s lives and Woodmen wants to be part of this process. We believe that this tournament gives us the chance to do just that.”
Woodmen of the World is a fraternal benefit society dedicated to protecting its members and strengthening its communities. Woodmen of the World has been working with young people for more than one hundred years. All though the world has changed dramatically during the past century, the basic core of our basic youth activities has remained the same; it’s all about helping kids grow up to be and do their best.
Admission is five dollars for everyone with no passes out. Concessions will be available. An i-pad will be given away at the tournament as well. The tournament schedule is posted above this news release.
