Zumba marathon Saturday to help fight breast cancer
WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – More than a thousand women and men are headed to the mall tomorrow morning, but NOT to go shopping!
The Zumba Marathon for Pink Ribbon kicks off Saturday morning at Independence Mall at 10:00. And everyone is invited to exercise to help fight women’s cancers. The mall donated a forty-thousand square foot space for the event…and Zumba instructor Wendy Joyner spearheaded the effort..hoping to attract at least a thousand men and women dancing to Latin and hip hop themed music for fitness and fighting disease.
There are two classes: registration starts at 9:00, with class from 10:00 until noon. Registration for the second session is at 11:00 with class running from noon until two. Tickets are $10 at the door complete with lots of prizes and a raffle.
All proceeds will be kept locally to provide mammograms in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender Counties for the needy and for comfort bags for those diagnosed with women’s cancers.
