1 hurt after detached garage fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One person is hurt after a fire at a detached car garage Monday afternoon.

The fire happened in the 200 block of North 6th Street
The Wilmington Fire Department said the person at home was working on his car when a spark ignited the gasoline vapors in the engine compartment.

The occupant was treated on scene by EMS and refused transport for a minor injury.

There have been no other injuries.

The damage is estimated to be about $10,000 for the structure and another $20,000 for contents including the car.

The fire was ruled accidental.
