101 Mobility creates wheelchair accessible Halloween costumes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With Halloween coming up tomorrow, many people are putting the last minute finishing touches on their costumes.

Today, some very special costumes are getting those touches and they will debut tomorrow.

101 Mobility‘s slogan is “If you can’t get there and need access we fix it”.

For Halloween, they have a new problem that they are fixing. 101 Mobility is creating wheelchair accessible costumes for kids.

This is the fourth year that this company has created handicap accessible costumes specifically for children at Codington Elementary who are in wheelchairs.

The costumes range from planes, trains and even shark cages.

Each costume is custom made for the child by the hard work of the entire 101 Mobility staff.

On Halloween, the kids of the special education class are the talk of the school.

“This is the one class that no one ever has to be in. But for that one day they’re all like ‘wow, look how amazing that is’.” Leigh Kelly, Sales Manager at 101 Mobility, said.

The costumes this year are just as creative and fun as the past.

They will be debuted tomorrow at 1 p.m. during the Codington Elementary School Halloween parade.
