18th Annual Model Railroad Show open for all ages

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 18th Annual Model Railroad Show and Sales is being held this weekend at the American Legion Post 10 in Wilmington.

Vendors from all over the country gather for this event from novice to experience model train enthusiasts of all ages.

The annual event has been chosen several times as one of the top 20 January events by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Farrell Teague, Events Coordinator Cape Fear Model Railroad Society, has been a part of this event since the beginning and he says it’s a great event whether you are 2 or 102.

“There’s nothing anymore soothing or pleasing than watching a train run. It’s doesn’t cost you anything like a psychologist. Just watch a train run and it will eliminate what is in your mind,” Teague said.

There are several hands-on and interactive activities for kids along with several displays of model trains of all different sizes.

Free clinics in model train display techniques are also available.

The show continues Sunday from 11-4pm.
