2 killed, 1 injured in Pender County crash

CURRIE, NC (WWAY) — First Sgt. King with The Highway Patrol said two people are dead and one is injured after an accident near Currie Saturday night.

King said it happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Highway 210.

King said James Henry, 27, Jerry Lamb, 26, and Jonathan Sykes, 30, were standing in road when a driver hit them. He said Robert Couch hit them with his Chevrolet Passenger car.

King said the three men were in the lane Couch was driving in when it happened. King said there were no street lights, stop lights, and there was not a crosswalk. King said Couch did not see the three men in the road.

King said Lamb and Henry were both killed and Sykes was injured. He said there is no word on whether Sykes went to the hospital. His conditions are unknown at this time.

King said no charges have been filed, because the crash is still under investigation.
