2 teams from NC headed to the College World Series

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Two universities from North Carolina are headed to the College World Series.

The UNC Tar Heels were the first team to clinch their spot after sweeping West Virginia on Saturday.

It is the 12th time the program has reached the stage.

The Tar Heels will be matched up against with ACC rival Virginia on Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.

Joining them will be the NC State Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack secured their spot when the defeated Georgia in a winner take all matchup Monday night.

It is the fourth time NC State has made it to the College World Series.

They will face Kentucky on Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled at 2 pm.
