20 ocean rescues reported in Wrightsville Beach, one transported
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A beautiful weekend of weather has drawn many people to the beach this weekend, but an increased swell and a higher risk for rip currents had lifeguards a little busy Saturday.
Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Captain Jeremy Owens said they have had about 20 rescues so far. Owens says one of those was transported to the hospital. He says it was an 18-year-old female who was rescued near the Stone Street area and at last check was in stable condition.
Wave height is forecasted to be around 4 feet Sunday with a moderate risk for rip currents. As always, it’s important to stay alert while in the water and listen to the lifeguards on duty.
