$200,000 win instantly boosts retirement fund of New Hanover County man
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Josh Myers of Wilmington says his good luck today will pay off tomorrow as he plans to save for retirement his $200,000 lottery prize.
“It’s going to be keep on going with the regular routine,” Myers said as he collected his prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. “It’s not enough to retire on, but it’s enough to have for retirement.”
Myers said he was just looking for any $5 ticket when he purchased a $200,000 Back Scratch ticket at the Scotchman on North 23rd Street in Wilmington.
“Very excited,” he said of the win. “Very shocked.”
After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $141,501.
The ticket launched in September with six top prizes of $200,000. One top prize remain.
