Wilmington police investigating overnight murder of teen
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an overnight murder that originally was called in as a cyclist struck by a car.
Police responded to the 100 block of Sebrell Avenue around 11:00 p.m. and found the body of Raymond Kain, 17, lying in the road.
New Hanover County Schools Spokeswoman Valita Quattlebaum confirms Kain is a Hoggard High School student. Grief counselors will be at the school on Monday for staff and students who need it.
Police say it was later determined the victim’s injuries were not the result of a traffic crash.
Caller: “Looks like somebody might have
done this to this guy,
instead of a car hitting him.”
911 Operator: “So you think maybe
he was assaulted?”
Caller: “Possibly. I mean my buddy, he was behind me and I turned down this road.
He went a different way.
We were headed home and he told me
that when he went the other direction
there was two guys walking
like really fast down the road.”
