HOOVER, ALABAMA (WWAY) – Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore has no intentions of stepping down following the allegations of sexual misconduct published in The Washington Post.

Three women make claims when Moore was in his 30s as an up in coming judiciary in Alabama, he pursued them when at the time they were all teenagers.

Gloria Deason told the Post she went on dates with Moore in 1979, when he was 32 and she was 18. Deason told the Post that Moore ordered her alcoholic drinks even though she was under the legal drinking age.

Moore claims these allegations are an attempt to topple his run for the Senate.

“In the next few days, there will be revelations about the motivations and the content of this article,” Moore said at a Saturday event. “They will be brought to the public. We fully expect the people of Alabama to see through this charade.”

Deason’s attorney, Paula Cobia, fired back releasing a statement, “On behalf of my client, Ms. Deason, I publicly demand that Roy Moore immediately retract his defamatory statements.”

Moore’s opponent has been outspoken about the allegations only adding to Moore’s arguments that he is being targeted.

Cobia says Deason has no affiliation with either the Republican or the Democratic party, and has never contacted Moore’s election opponent, Democrat Doug Jones.

“He knows full well why these women did not tell what he did to them before this week,” said Cobia in her statement.

Yet when almost a dozen young men came forward in the Clyde Wesley Way case a few years back, no one believed them and justice was never served. This is exactly why people never report sexual abuse. This guy is sitting at home enjoying his holidays after a slap on the wrist and these boys, some grown men, have to live with the fact that the legal system offered no justice. I continue to hear from victims and every single time I am shocked and saddened to know no one would listen. “Boys will be boys” “honest mistake” “typical locker room behavior” “just trying to help” — disgusting and not an excuse! Cover up, cover up, cover up. Shame on people of power preying on others and shame on our justice system for coddling these monsters.

Now we have almost a hundred women coming forward out of every venue. Not a single one of them ever said a word when their alleged “event” happened and waited up to 40 years. I guess when you jump on a train to get a ride, you ride it to the end, even if the ticket is 40 years old.
There is no excuse for so many women waiting so long to bring this to the surface. There is a huge loss of credibility.

Paula Cobia did a fantastic job of representing Ms Deason, women in general, and all of the decent people in Alabama who are tired of Alabama deserving to be the butt of jokes for the rest of the nation. Kudos, Ms. Cobia. Great job!

I’m afraid the Double Whammy from Alabammy
will soon be moving up to D.C.
    And he will wreak havoc!

That was in past. Why bring this up now.

They could have had family or marriages in the Republican party that kept them from telling the truth. Just like children who are molested by pastors sometimes don’t come out for years and years because of their family. defending it makes you just as disgusting.

Hitler killed many many people “in the past.” If he were running for public office would you bring it up now, or just forget it?

You want a Hitler comparison? You should be able to apply it to the guy that began this sort of mindset, William Jefferson (Bill) Clinton! The entire nation turned a blind eye to his sexual prowess, disrespected and denigrated his female victims to boot! Bills wife, Hitlery, “The worlds advocate for women” backed him up and publicly accused the women, his VICTIMS of grandstanding, lying and pilfering. That was the very “turn” of the mentality that we see today. Yes…Hitler = Bill Clinton AND his wife! You hit the nail on the head!
