Pender Co. Sheriff Carson Smith will retire, run for NC House

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Sheriff Carson Smith announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election in 2018.

The four term sheriff plans to leave the sheriff’s office to seek public office.

An announcement from the sheriff’s office confirmed that Smith will run for the State House left vacant Chris Millis.

Sheriff Smith’s term ends Dececember 3, 2018.
